Today
was another long and eventful day with many stops. We looked at the life of
Philip Schuyler. He was a general in the American Revolution and United States
Senator. We toured his mansion in Albany, which to me wouldn’t be what I
considered a mansion but the inside was very nice. After that we traveled to
Mechanicville and visited a museum with artifacts and exhibits of the French
and Indian War, Civil War, World War II and more. One of my favorite artifacts
at this museum was the British Dragoon Pistol. This was used in the French and
Indian war by many troops. We also toured another house of Philip Schuyler that
was in more of a rural setting. My opinion on this house was almost completely
opposite of my thoughts on the other house. It was beautiful on the outside but
the inside seemed almost empty and not ready for touring. My favorite part of
the day was visiting the Saratoga Monument. We got to climb 189 stairs and see
an amazing view. I also enjoyed seeing
the dredging. Although dredging is supposed to help clean the Hudson River, I
saw a lot of polluted water falling back into the river after coming up from
the dredge making it spread to other parts of the river and contaminating it.
It made me question how clean the river really is and if what were doing to try
to keep the environment clean is working.
